Monarch Larva Monitoring Project training

When

8 a.m., June 12, 2021

On June 12th, the Monarch Larva Monitoring Project (MLMP) team will lead a virtual training to learn how to collect data to contribute to knowledge about the monarch population. Volunteers are critical to informing and inspiring monarch conservation. This session will be relevant for both newcomers and individuals who are already participating in the MLMP or another monarch citizen science project!

During the MLMP training, you will learn about monarch biology, monitoring procedures, and data entry protocols. You will have the opportunity to ask monarch biologists your questions about monarchs and monitoring. Additionally, the training will give you the chance to virtually connect with other volunteers across the country.

The four-hour training will be conducted in two sessions, from 10am - 12pm (CST) and again from 1pm - 3pm (CST). During the break, you will have an opportunity to use your newfound knowledge! The training sessions will be held over Zoom. Instructors are Katie-Lyn Bunney, Rita Morris, and Karen Oberhauser.

We are including an optional in-person component for our June MLMP training. For those who would like some hands-on training and to meet the instructors in person, we invite you to join us at our sites in Minnesota and Wisconsin. The in-person training in Wisconsin will be on June 13th in Madison, Wisconsin. The in-person training in Minnesota will be on June 13th or June 26th in Roseville, Minnesota.
