Challenges
There are many challenges to arid land restoration. Here we describe some of the better known challenges and how to address them.
Animals
Granivorous species can be detrimental to seeding efforts by consuming large amounts of freshly applied seed. Small mammals can also damage seedlings and saplings by direct herbivory and soil damage through burrowing.
Invasion Pressure
Invasive plants from contiguous habitat entering restoration sites can significantly affect restoration success.
